European Energy Award – from now on also in Zala and Vas counties!

On behalf of the Danube Office Ulm (Germany), the European Energy Award Association and the Baden-Württemberg Climate Protection and Energy Agency, our company organized a very successful workshop in July 2023. To this event we have invited mayors, leading civil servants and representatives of city institutions from Zala and Vas counties. The purpose of the event, which was attended by about 20 participants, was to help the introduction of the European Energy Award in larger settlements of Western Transdanubia. While the Energy Award has been largely unknown in Hungary so far, as shown by the example of Szentgotthárd, which is the city in Hungary to introduce the award so far, winning the award can bring multiple benefits. It can provide an excellent publicity for promoting municipal efforts for energy saving (and the related cost and CO2 emission reduction), and the related methodology can help identifying further untapped energy saving opportunities.

Cities planning to introduce the award are supported by the international project in several ways: through an information workshop (this first step has taken place now), by providing direct advice, by participating in the international network and exchanging experiences, and by participating in study tours.

The feedback from the workshop held at Zalaegerszeg County Hall was very positive, and several cities already considered introducing the award.
